Campaign themes
2016
Turnbow's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]
Public safety
- Excerpt: "I would like to see an end to the recent increase in crime. In order to do this, money needs to be focused on community police and firemen, and not shift towards remodeling city hall or increasing the paid hours of the city council members. I will fight for our city protectors."
Business
- Excerpt: "I have grown a 50-year-old aerospace company into a strong corporation, making it more competitive in its industry, and all the while maintaining the feel of a family business. I will do the same for our beloved 8th District and for Long Beach, while still being fiscally responsible and balancing our city’s budget without increasing sales taxes. It would do my heart well to see all the empty store fronts in the 8th District filled with substantial local business."
Education
- Excerpt: "With technology skyrocketing and jobs becoming more competitive, I desire to see our future generations well prepared for the jobs of the future. Giving them the tools to succeed, and not the answers, is how we ensure they are ready to be tomorrow’s leaders."
