West Springfield Community Preservation Act Reconsideration (2010)
There was a Community Preservation Act Reconsideration proposition on the November 3 ballot in Hampden County.
This measure was approved[1]
This petition sought to ask local voters to reject the Community Preservation Act that had been voted into law in 2001. This Act places a 1 percent tax on property and is used to support historical preservation of sites, open space acquisitions and affordable housing initiatives. Those who are backing the petition say they don't necessarily disagree with the act, just that people have less money to spend on taxes with the economic issues as they are. It is still unclear when this will be up for a vote in the county, but the first step is done.[2]
