I'm the mom of 3 girls, a small-business owner, a lifelong North Iowan, and a devoted community advocate. My husband and I own & operate South Shore Donut Co. in Clear Lake. We are proud to be raising our family and growing our business in our hometown! I love to learn, and I am currently enrolled at Waldorf University where I will soon graduate with a degree in Leadership Communication.
  • We have to learn how to work together. Nothing will ever improve if we are unable to have a civil conversation about the issues impacting our lives.
  • Liberty and Justice, for ALL. There is no freedom until all citizens are equal regardless of gender, race, sexuality, religion, etc.
  • I lead with the same expectations and no-nonsense approach I use to parent: honesty, respect, kindness, truth, and hard work.
I am unapologetically pro-choice: There are many ways to prevent unintended pregnancies that do not involve women losing their freedom and bodily autonomy.

I am pro-public education: I have 1 child in private school and 2 children in public school. There is absolutely no reason to defund our public schools by diverting funds to private schools, and it will be disastrous for rural communities.

I am a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate: Responsible gun owners (like ourselves) have nothing to fear from increased regulations on gun ownership, and the vast majority of Americans agree that we need to work to prevent gun violence.

We need to address the massive problems within Iowa's childcare industry with real solutions. The current shortage is greatly impacting working families and is unacceptable.

Diversity, inclusion, and representation are incredibly important in our society. I believe there is a place for everyone at our table.

Family farms are crucial to our state: My dad is a 3rd generation Iowa farmer, my husband works as his hired man each spring and fall, and my oldest daughter raises beef cattle. I understand the challenges facing today's family farmers and want to help them succeed.
I believe the most important characteristics or principles of elected officials are: honesty, truth, compassion, intelligence, empathy, kindness, tenacity, boldness, hard work, and respect.
I value honesty, truth, hard work, kindness, and compassion.

I have a deep need to help people whenever and however I can. We live by the motto "Do all the good you can, for all the people you can, in all the ways you can, for as long as you can."
I am an excellent communicator and I believe bipartisanship is our best path forward.

I consider myself to be a "perpetual student," and I am always willing to put in the effort to learn more about issues I am not familiar with.
"Jiggle Jiggle" by Duke & Jones & Louis Theroux because my children constantly sing it.
The school voucher system will greatly impact rural school districts and rural communities. Defunding public schools will force many small districts to consolidate or close. As schools are often the largest employers in rural towns, this will decimate small-town life as we know it.

Protecting a woman's reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy. Human rights aren't debatable. Period.

The culture wars coming from our statehouse are unnecessary and toxic distractions. Diversity, inclusion, and representation benefit us all. It is disappointing to see many legislators promoting this hate-filled rhetoric and pushing for policies that exclude our fellow Iowans, especially when they should be focusing on how to improve our lives.

The childcare shortage needs to be addressed immediately. We have a staggering shortage of 350,000 spots for children 12 and under. People cannot work if they cannot find childcare.

I would be interested in joining the following committees:

Labor and Business Relations
Commerce
Education
Ethics
Human Resources

or any others that leadership believes would benefit from my knowledge and experience.
I firmly believe that compromise is necessary for policymaking. In fact, I believe that we will never improve the lives of our constituents if we continue on this deeply divided and uber-partisan path. We must be willing to engage in civil conversations about issues and realize that neither party can have an "all-or-nothing" agenda.
