Whitney Smith
Whitney Smith was a nonpartisan candidate for representative on the Columbus City Council in Ohio. Smith was defeated in the primary election on May 2, 2017.
Smith was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 18 of the Ohio House of Representatives.[1] Smith was replaced on the general election ballot by David Todd (R). After leaving the state House race in 2016, Smith ran as a Republican candidate for Franklin County commissioner. She was defeated in the general election by John O'Grady (D).[2]

2017
The city of Columbus, Ohio, held elections on November 7, 2017. A primary election occurred on May 2, 2017. Three of the seven seats on the city council were up for election. The positions of city attorney and city auditor were also on the ballot. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 1, 2017.[3]

Elections for the Ohio House of Representatives took place in 2016. The primary election was held on March 15, 2016, and the general election was held on November 8, 2016. The candidate filing deadline was December 16, 2015.
Incumbent Kristin Boggs defeated David Todd and Constance Gadell Newton in the Ohio House of Representatives District 18 general election.[5]
