Montana: In April 2011, congress approved a budget rider which removed wolves from the endangered species list in Montana and four other states. Wildlife advocates have sued the government over this issue and are urging the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to restore the wolves' endangered species status.[1]

In August, a three-judge panel on the 9th Circuit Court denied the advocates attempts to stop the hunt.[1]

On September 9th, wildlife agencies reported hunters have killed 11 wolves in Idaho and Montana since the season opened.[1]

A hearing is expected for this November.[1]
