Wilfredo Hierrezuelo, born on August 24th, 1985, is a dynamic and dedicated entrepreneur, philanthropist, and creative visionary. As the founder and chairman of the Hug The Block Foundation Corporation, a nonprofit organization committed to uplifting communities and providing support to those in need, he has made significant contributions toward social impact and community development. Wilfredo's journey is rooted in resilience and determination, as he faced adversity from a young age when his father was tragically murdered when he was just one year old. As the youngest of four boys, Wilfredo grew up in a household that emphasized the importance of family and perseverance. His experiences shaped his understanding of the struggles faced by many in his community, driving him to create positive change. This commitment to giving back is further reflected in his work with the Hug The Block Foundation, where he leads initiatives aimed at promoting education, mentorship, and empowerment for underprivileged youth and families.
  • Community First Leadership – Wilfredo has dedicated his life to serving the Bronx through ministry, mentorship, and advocacy, always putting the needs of families, youth, and seniors at the center.
  • Safety, Justice & Opportunity – He is committed to safer streets, stronger protections for vulnerable communities, and creating opportunities that uplift rather than punish.
  • Building a Stronger Future Together – Wilfredo believes in uniting neighbors, empowering voices too often ignored, and ensuring that every resident has access to education, jobs, and resources to thrive.
“I am deeply passionate about public policies that strengthen families, protect vulnerable communities, and create pathways of opportunity. That means advancing public safety with a focus on prevention and justice, improving education so every child has the tools to succeed, and expanding community resources like housing, workforce development, and mental health support. My commitment is to policies that don’t just address problems after they happen, but that build a stronger foundation for our neighborhoods to thrive.”
“I look up to Curtis Jackson because his story and journey of change hit close to home for me. He turned pain and hardship into purpose, showing that with resilience, focus, and determination, you can overcome your past and create opportunities for yourself and others. Like him, I believe in using my experiences—the good and the difficult—to uplift my community, mentor the next generation, and prove that transformation is possible when you refuse to give up.”
“I believe the most important characteristics for an elected official are integrity, accountability, and compassion. Integrity means being honest and standing firm in your values. Accountability means being transparent and making sure the community’s voice guides every decision. And compassion means remembering that behind every policy are real people and families whose lives are impacted. An elected official should lead by example, serve with humility, and always put the people first.”
“The core responsibilities of a City Council Member are to listen to the community, advocate for their needs, and create policies that improve people’s daily lives. That means ensuring public safety, fighting for quality schools, protecting affordable housing, and holding city agencies accountable. At the heart of it, the job is about being a true voice for the people—someone who shows up, responds, and works every day to make sure our neighborhoods have the resources and opportunities they deserve.”
“I want my legacy to be that I left the community stronger, safer, and more united than I found it. I want people to say that I stood up for those who felt unheard, that I created opportunities for our youth, and that I never forgot the struggles of families, elders, and working people. My goal is to be remembered not just as an elected official, but as a servant leader who gave hope, built trust, and inspired the next generation to lead with integrity and compassion.”
My very first job was working for my uncle as a superintendent helper (porter)
“My favorite book is When the Wind Blows by James Patterson. I love how it blends suspense with real human emotion, showing how ordinary people can face extraordinary challenges and find courage they didn’t know they had. It’s a reminder that even in the toughest situations, determination, resourcefulness, and hope can carry you through—lessons I carry into my own life and work in the community.”
“One of the biggest struggles in my life was overcoming a difficult past, including involvement with gangs and facing time in prison as a young person. It was a challenging journey, but it taught me the importance of accountability, resilience, and the power of second chances. That experience drives me today to mentor youth, advocate for fair opportunities, and show others that your past does not have to define your future.”

These endorsements reflect a broad base of support from both media and faith-based community leaders, underscoring Wilfredo's commitment to serving the diverse
“One story that has stayed with me comes from a young mother in the Bronx who was struggling to provide for her children while juggling multiple jobs. She shared how difficult it was to access resources, find safe spaces for her kids, and simply feel heard by local leaders. Her honesty and resilience were incredibly moving. Stories like hers remind me why this work matters — why we need policies that truly support families, give opportunities to our youth, and ensure every community member feels seen and valued.”
“One accomplishment I’m most proud of is founding and running my nonprofit organization, which provides mentorship, job readiness programs, food distribution, and support to youth and families in our community. Seeing young people grow, gain confidence, and succeed because of the programs we’ve built is incredibly rewarding. It reminds me that real change happens when you show up, invest in people, and never give up on your community.”
