Noteworthy events
Indicted for death threats against opponent (2021)
On September 27, 2024, Will Braddock was indicted on one count of interstate transmission of a true threat to injure another person, stemming from alleged threats he made in June 2021 against Anna Paulina Luna, an opponent in Florida's 13th Congressional District 2022 primary.[1]
Braddock was recorded in a phone call with an acquaintance of Luna, in which he allegedly discussed plans to arrange for her assassination. After the audio was released publicly, Braddock stated the voice on the call may not have been his and that the recording could have been manipulated. He later withdrew from the race and traveled to the Philippines. Braddock was extradited to the United States before the 2024 indictment.[2][3][1]
In a statement submitted during her request for a restraining order in 2021, Luna wrote, "I do not feel safe and am currently in fear for my life."[3] A spokesperson for Luna said she had no comment on the indictment.[4]
As of September 27, 2024, the case was under investigation, and there were no court dates set.[1]
