I am a small business owner at OX Coffee in Philadelphia, the proud husband of a labor organizer and early childhood educator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the son of a Chinese immigrant and lifelong Philadelphian and a Democratic Committee Person in the 2nd Ward of Philadelphia. I grew up in a progressive home looking up to leaders like Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Fannie Lou Hamer, Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt and Bernie Sanders. I was taught early on that we have a moral responsibility to those who struggle in our society and that the role of government is to do what otherwise would not be done.
  • I believe that all Pennsylvanians deserve a living wage and that the minimum wage in this state ought to be rasied from $7.25/hr to at least $15/hr.
  • I believe that all Pennsylvanians deserve clean air and clean water and that we must move away from our dependence on fossil fuels.
  • I believe that all of Pennsylvania's children deserve to go to schools that are not only free of asbestos and crumbling walls but that also inspire.
1. A Living Wage for PA

2. A Green New Deal for PA
3. Healthy schools that inspire all of our children
3. Housing and Health Care recognized as a human rights

To me these 4 areas represent the building blocks for progress that stretches deep into the future, for stronger and safer communities and for a just recovery from this pandemic both economically and socially. We live in the richest country in the history of the world and yet, so many struggle everyday from hunger and food insecurity, from lack of a safe home, from lack of being able to see a doctor, from going to a school filled asbestos and crumbling walls and from lack of a safe and healthy environment. No one is truly free until these issues are confronted and addressed. No one is free, really, until we guarantee a decent life for everyone in our society.
Bobby Kennedy is someone I look toward for political inspiration. He was someone that went through an incredible transformation after his brothers death. He became a social justice warrior who committed himself to those who struggle most in our society. He recognized that if we are to build a stronger, more equitable society we must take care of all of our people. "Those who live with us are our brothers, that share the same short moment of life, who seek as do we, nothing but the chance to live out their days in purpose and happiness winning what satisfaction and fulfillment that they can... Perhaps this bond can teach us something, so we can become in our hearts brothers and countrymen once again."
1. Compassion,

2. Relationship building skills

3. A commitment to fight for those who struggle most in our society
I hope to push the idea that if we don't do it, if we don't make the changes we want to see happen, then no one else will.
I'd like to think the relationship is based upon the common thought that we need to pursue legislation that focuses on the needs of all of our people, particularly those who struggle most in our society.
Moving away from the fossil fuels toward green industry, good paying green union jobs and green infrastructure.
It is not always desirable, but as President Obama once pointed out, progress is not always a straight line, it's a bit more back and forth and always moving forward. Still, I'd like to think that we can pursue real progressive policy together, recognizing that we all must have opportunity in our society.
