William Bedsworth was a judge for Division 3 of the California 4th District Court of Appeal. He assumed office on April 15, 1997. He left office on October 22, 2024.

Bedsworth ran for re-election for the Division 3 judge of the California 4th District Court of Appeal. He won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.

Bedsworth retired from the court on October 22, 2024.[1]


Education

Bedsworth received his bachelor's degree from Loyola University of Los Angeles in 1968. He earned his J.D. from University of California Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1971.[2]

Career

Bedsworth began his legal career in 1972 working in the Orange County District Attorney's Office. He was elected to the Orange County Superior Court in 1986, where he worked until his appointment to the Court of Appeal in 1997. Outside the courtroom, Bedsworth writes a nationally syndicated monthly humor column and served as a National Hockey League goal judge for 15 years.[2][3]
