William C. Carpenter, Jr. was a judge on the New Castle County Superior Court in Delaware.[1] He was first appointed in 1993 by former governor Tom Carper, and reappointed in 2005 by Ruth Ann Minner.[2]

Carpenter Jr. retired from the court in 2023.[3]

Education

Carpenter earned his undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Delaware. In 1976, he received his J.D. from Widener University School of Law.[2]

Career

Carpenter worked briefly as an attorney for a private practice after he graduated from law school. He then became Assistant United States Attorney for over 8 years. In 1985, he was appointed by President Reagan to be the District of Delaware's United States Attorney. He continued in this position through the Bush and Clinton administrations.[2]
