Campaign themes
2014
Clyde listed the following issues on his campaign website:[4]
- Campaign reform
- Excerpt: "We need a process for electing officials that does not leave them so committed to the ideologies of their big supporters that they can’t work together to solve our problems. My campaign is dedicated and designed to playing a proactive role in development of that process."
- Term limits
- Excerpt: "Senators should be limited to two six-year terms, while Representatives should be limited to not more than six terms, and perhaps only four."
- Education
- Excerpt: "Elements of better education for all must include,
- 1. acknowledgement that education is a strategically important sector and that all decisions should be made with only one goal--student learning
- 2. widespread exploitation of new knowledge on brain theory and how people learn
- 3. widespread exploitation of new technologies and learning strategies
- 4. widespread integration of new research on the importance of character in success
- 5. national commitment to local control, but universally high expectations in education
- 6. better accountability of outcomes, especially learning outcomes
- 7. continued exploration of strategies to make higher education a better investment"
- Healthcare
- Excerpt: "The Affordable Care Act (popularly known as Obamacare) is a complicated compromise that does not resolve all of the issues and creates new ones. I support real reform that gets the incentives right, restores healthy relationships between patients and doctors, and gives us the effective, efficient health care we deserve and can afford."
