William Davis Lawley (Republican Party) ran for election for judge of the Jefferson County District Court Place 3 in Alabama. He lost in the general election on November 6, 2018.

Lawley was a 2014 judicial candidate for the Jefferson County District Court in Alabama.[1] He previously ran for election to this court in 2012, but was unsuccessful.

Biography

Lawley received his undergraduate degree from Hampden-Sydney College and his J.D. from Washington University School of Law. He also graduated from the National Judicial College. Lawley has served as a special circuit judge for the drug court, an assistant district attorney and an assistant attorney general in the child welfare division.[2]

Lawley ran for election to the Jefferson County District Court.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 48.9 percent of the vote. He competed against incumbent Shanta' Owens. [1]

Lawley ran for election to the Jefferson County District Court. He defeated Dale Wayne Snodgrass in the Republican primary on March 13, winning 53.67% of the vote. He was defeated by Carnella Greene-Norman in the general election on November 6, receiving 47.61% of the vote.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; name cannot be a simple integer. In October, the Birmingham Bar Association compiled results of its Judicial Primary Qualifications Poll. 687 members of the association participated in the poll, though all members did not participate in each evaluation. Below are the candidate's results.[5]

There are 98 judgeships on the Alabama District Courts, each elected to six-year terms. The elections for this court are partisan contested elections. To serve on this court, a judge must have been licensed to practice law for three years.[8]
