William Eads
William Eads was a judge of the Sixth District of Iowa. Governor Harold Hughes appointed him to this court in 1963. He retired in 2000, becoming one of the longest serving district judges in Iowa at the time. He took senior status upon retirement. Eads died on August 8, 2013.[1][2]
Education
Eads was born in Sioux City, Iowa. He received his undergraduate degree in political science and his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1951 and 1957, respectively. He also served in the U.S. Army, stationed in France from 1952 to 1953. He was married and had two children and four grandchildren.[1][3]

Noteworthy cases
Deep Throat censorship
Judge Eads ruled a Marion, Iowa theater could not show the adult movie Deep Throat or similar films, deciding the film constituted a nuisance under Iowa law. The Iowa Supreme Court later overturned his ruling.[3][4]
