William F. Kussel, Jr. is a circuit court judge for the Menominee and Shawano County Circuit Court in Wisconsin.[1] He was appointed by Governor Scott Walker in September of 2011 to fill the seat vacated by Thomas Grover.[2] Kussel was elected in 2012 for a term that will expire in 2018.[3]

Education

Kussel earned his Bachelor of the Arts from St. Norbert College in 1979 and his J.D. from the Southwestern University School of Law in 1984.[2]

Career

Kussel has served in several positions in the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin over the past 25 years. He has worked as a tribal prosecutor, provided general legal counsel to the tribe, served as legal counsel to the Menominee Tribal Gaming Commission, led the Office of the Tribal Prosecutor and worked closely with the U.S. Attorney and the FBI on major crimes.[2][3]

Kussel previously ran for circuit court judge and district attorney in Menominee and Shawano county, but was unsuccessful in both attempts.[2]
