William Greene, Jr. was a federal judge for the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. He joined the court on November 7, 1997, after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. He served as chief judge from August 8, 2005, until August 6, 2010. In November of 2010, Green assumed senior status.[1]
Education
Greene earned his B.A. in political science from West Virginia State College in 1965 and a J.D. from Howard University School of Law.[1]
Military service
After law school, Greene joined the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and took advanced courses with the Judge Advocate General's School, Army Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College. He retired in 1993 and earned a number of distinctions prior to retirement including three awards of the Legion of Merit. After retirement, Greene was designated an Honorary Colonel of the Judge Advocate General's Corps Regiment and recognized as a Distinguished Member of the Judge Advocate General's Corps Regiment.[1]

Greene was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims by President Bill Clinton and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate. He joined the court on November 7, 1997. Greene served as chief judge from August 8, 2005, until August 6, 2010. He assumed senior status in November of 2010.[1]
