The November 4, 2014, general election in Darlington County School District featured four seats up for election. In the District 1 race, incumbent Tom Henson faced two challengers, losing to Billy Baldwin. Incumbent Joyce Wingate Thomas was defeated by challenger Thelma Dawson in the District 3 race. Three challengers sought the District 5 seat, as incumbent Tommy Jeffords did not file for re-election, with Maureen W. Thomas coming out on top. Lone candidate Wanda Hassler sought and won the District 7 seat since incumbent Allen McCutchen did not file for re-election.

Funding

Candidates were required to file a quarterly finance report with the South Carolina State Ethics Commission for the November general election by October 10, 2014. This report covered the period of July 1, 2014, through September 30, 2014. Candidates were also required to file a pre-election report no later than 15 days prior to the election. A final report is due after the campaign has closed. Candidates for local school boards may not accept more than $1,000 from individuals and $5,000 from political parties.[1]
