William Holloway
William Judson Holloway, Jr. was a judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. Holloway served on senior status from 1992 to 2014. Holloway died in April 2014.[1]
Early life and Education
A native Oklahoman, Holloway graduated from the University of Oklahoma with his bachelor's degree in 1947 and later graduated from Harvard Law School with his law degree in 1950.
Military service
Holloway also served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946.[2]
Professional career
Holloway began his career as a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Oklahoma from 1950 to 1951. He joined the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, DC in 1951, serving as a General Litigation Claims Attorney. From 1952 to 1968, Holloway was in private practice.[2]
Judicial career
Holloway was nominated by President Lyndon Johnson on August 2, 1968, to a new seat created by 82 Stat. 184 which was approved by Congress. Holloway was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 13, 1968, on a Senate vote and received commission on September 16, 1968. Holloway served as the Chief Judge of the court from 1984 to 1991 before later assuming senior status on May 31, 1992.[2]
