William Magnarelli (Democratic Party) is a member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 129. He assumed office in 2013. His current term ends on January 1, 2027.
Magnarelli (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the New York State Assembly to represent District 129. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Magnarelli serves as vice-chair of the minority conference for the New York State Assembly.
Biography
Magnarelli earned his B.A. in history from Syracuse University and his J.D. from Syracuse University Law School.[1] His professional experience includes being a member of Scolaro, Shulman, Cohen, Fetter and Burnstein Professional Corporation, as an associate with Richard S. Scolaro, Esquire and as an associate of Axenfeld, Webb, Marshall, Bersani and Scolaro. Magnarelli served as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve from 1972-1979.[2]
Magnarelli has served as majority leader of the Syracuse Common Council and as a common councilor for Syracuse, New York.

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was July 10, 2014. Incumbent William Magnarelli was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Richard G. Zaccaria was unopposed in the Republican primary. Magnarelli ran on the Working Families Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets and Zaccaria ran on the Conservative Party ticket.
