William Matthew Merrick

William Matthew Merrick (1818-1889) was an Associate Justice on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

He received a recess appointment from President Grover Cleveland on May 1, 1885. ON December 14, 1885, he was officially nominated. He was confirmed by the Senate on March 30, 1886 and received commission that same day. He served until his death on February 4, 1889.[1]

District Columbia Circuit

Merrick was previously a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

He was nominated by President Franklin Pierce on December 14, 1855. He was confirmed by the Senate on December 14, 1855, and received commission that same day. He served until the abolishment of the court on March 3, 1863.[1]
