William Osborne Mehrtens (1905-1980) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Mehrtens was nominated by President Lyndon Johnson on August 20, 1965, to a seat vacated by Emett Choate; he was confirmed by the Senate on August 31, 1965, and received commission the next day. He assumed senior status on September 15, 1975, and served in that capacity until his death on July 16, 1980. Mehrtens was succeeded in this position by Sidney Aronovitz.
