William Miles Mattingly was a judge on the Orphans Court of St. Mary’s County in St. Mary's County, Maryland.[1] He was appointed to the court by Governor Martin O'Malley on March 7, 2012, to replace his brother, the late Judge Charles "Jenks" Mattingly.[2] Mattingly assumed office on April 10, 2012.[3] He was defeated in his bid for re-election in 2014 and stepped down when his term expired.[4]

Career

Mattingly previously worked as a district manager for the Waste Management of Southern Maryland. He has also worked as a road patrol officer for Charles and St. Mary's counties and was a sales and operations manager for the St. Mary's Disposal Systems.[3]

Mattingly ran for re-election to the Orphans Court of St. Mary’s County.
Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 50.3 percent of the vote. He competed against incumbent Judge Linda Dean. Both candidates ran unopposed in the primary. 
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 18.4 percent of the vote. He competed against Michael R. White (Maryland), Albert Babcock, and incumbent judges, Linda Dean and Dalton Wood for three open seats. [4][5]
