William O'Brien is a judge of the Nassau County Court. He was elected on November 4, 2014, for a term that expires on December 31, 2024.[1]
O'Brien was previously a judge for the Nassau County District Court in New York. He was elected to the court in 2001 and remained on the bench until his election to the Nassau County Court.[2]

O'Brien ran for election to the Nassau County Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Independence primary on September 9, 2014, receiving 16.8 percent of the vote. He competed against Steven M. Jaeger, Tammy S. Robbins, Caryn R. Fink, Terence P. Murphy and Fran Ricigliano. Additionally, he ran on the Republican Party line, though there was no primary for that party.
General: He faced Steven M. Jaeger, Tammy S. Robbins, Caryn R. Fink, Terence P. Murphy and Francis Ricigliano in the general election on November 4, 2014, and won with 17.5 percent of the vote. Candidates competed for three open seats.

2012
O'Brien ran for re-election to the district court. He was one of six candidates competing for three positions in the general election on November 6, 2012. He ran on the Conservative, Independence and Republican Party tickets and was re-elected with 19.16% of the vote.[4][5]

O'Brien received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in 1978, and his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 1981.[2]
