Salud Carbajal (D) defeated Justin Fareed (R) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Carbajal and Fareed defeated Benjamin Lucas (D), William Ostrander (D), Helene Schneider (D), Katcho Achadjian (R), Matt Kokkonen (R), Steve Isakson (independent), and John Uebersax (independent) in the top-two primary on June 7, 2016.[2][3][4]
