An effort to recall William Siegel and John Gordon from their respective positions as mayor and city council member in Lemoore, California was launched in July 2013.[1][2] Ultimately, nothing came of the effort, and the recall did not go to a vote.

Background

The recall effort was led by Lisa Elgin. Elgin was a candidate for the city council in 2010, but lost to Gordon and council member Willard Rodarmel. Recall supporters were upset over decisions the city council had made, such as forcing City Manager Jeff Briltz to resign, outsourcing the city's planning department, and eliminating the code enforcement officer. Siegel and Gordon supported the actions as cost-saving measures.[1][2]

Siegel was first elected mayor in 2008, and, at the time of the recall effort, his term was set to expire in 2016. Gordon was first elected to his seat on the city council in 2010, and his term was set to expire in 2014.[3]
