Sobel received a bachelor's degree in political science from The George Washington University. He was the chief operating officer of Comedy Caravan/TSM Artists from 1990 to 2009. He then began working as a consultant for comedians and entertainment venues, joined Target Corp., and co-founded www.ilocalnews.com.
