William Terry Denton was a judge for the Blount County General Sessions Court and the Blount County Juvenile Court in Tennessee. He took office in March 1979. He was re-elected in 2006 and retired on August 31, 2014.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Denton received his B.S. degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Tennessee Technological University in 1968 and his J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee in 1971. Prior to receiving his law degree, he worked as an auditor for the County Audit Division of Tennessee.[2]

Career

Denton worked as a private practice lawyer from 1972 until he joined the General Sessions Court in 1979. In 1976, he argued a case before the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also served in various legal organizations and helped to create the first Juvenile Drug Court in Tennessee.[2]
