William Timbers
William Homer Timbers (September 5, 1915-November 26, 1994) was a federal judge who served with the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. He joined the Second Circuit in 1971 after an appointment from Richard Nixon. He joined the District of Connecticut in 1960 after an appointment from Dwight Eisenhower. At the time of his appointment, he was a private practice attorney. Timbers served as chief judge on the District of Connecticut from 1964-1971. He assumed senior status on July 10, 1981, serving in this position until his death on November 26, 1994.[1]

Judicial career
Second Circuit
Timbers was nominated to the Second Circuit by Richard M. Nixon on May 13, 1971 to the seat vacated by Robert Palmer Anderson. He was confirmed by the Senate on July 29, 1971, receiving his commission on July 29, 1971. He assumed senior status on July 10, 1981, serving in this position until his death on November 26, 1994.[1] He was succeeded to this post by Jon Newman.
District of Connecticut
Timbers was nominated by Dwight Eisenhower to the District of Connecticut on January 11, 1960 to the seat vacated by J. Joseph Smith. He was then confirmed by the Senate on September 1, 1960, receiving his commission on September 2, 1960. Timbers served as chief judge on the District of Connecticut from 1964-1971. He ended his service with this court on August 6, 1971 when he moved to the Second Circuit.[1] He was succeeded to this post by George Pratt.
