William Hedgcock Webster (1924-2025) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Webster passed away on August 8, 2025.[1]

Judicial career

Eighth Circuit

Webster was nominated to the Eighth Circuit by President Richard Nixon on June 13, 1973, to a seat vacated by Marion Matthes; he was confirmed by the Senate on July 13, 1973, and received commission on July 18. He resigned on February 22, 1978.[2]

Eastern District of Missouri

Webster was nominated to the Eastern District of Missouri by President Richard Nixon on December 8, 1970, to a new seat created by 84 Stat. 294; he was confirmed by the Senate on December 17, 1970, and received commission on December 21. He served the Eastern District of Missouri until he advanced to the Eighth Circuit on August 10, 1973.[2] Webster was succeeded in this position by John Nangle.
