The city of Chula Vista, California held city council elections on June 3, 2014. Incumbent Patricia Aguilar faced Hector Gastelum, David Gonzalez, Jr., Willie Harris, Dan Smith and Michael Spethman in the general election. Because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote-getters - Aguilar and Smith - met in a runoff election on November 4, 2014. Aguilar defeated Smith in the runoff.[1][2][3][4]
