I look up to my mother whose teachings remain with me today. I follow her example because she was kind, thoughtful, generous, spiritual, and stressed, always being respectful.
The qualities I possess that I believe will make me a successful officeholder are: I am passionate, honest, considerate, dedicated and I have concern for those who can't care for themselves, especially children.
My favorite book is Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Supremacy because it was filled with suspense! A true page turner!
I believe the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature is to have open communication. When the Governor and the State Legislature come together, it should be for the benefit of all Georgians.
It is not imperative for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics because at some point every state legislator entered his or her position without prior experience. The most important thing is for state legislators to do the right thing with Georgians well-being in mind.
I believe it is beneficial to build relationships with other legislators. It is important to find common ground with fellow legislators on both sides of the aisle with the goal of legislating for the benefit of all Georgians.
The process I favor for redistricting is having the maps drawn fairly, whereby voters will have the ability to vote for politicians who have their best interest in mind.
The committees I am interested in are: Small Business Development Committee, Economic Development, Tourism Committee, Ethics Committee, and Health and Human Services.
I am a serious minded individual. Yes, I have a sense of humor, however, I don't have a favorite joke.

Willie Mae Oyogoa spent her formative years in Abbeville, SC along with one sister and three brothers. Willie Mae experienced the meaning of strong family values and Christian faith. From humble beginnings, Willie Mae completed her undergraduate studies at Georgia State University while working full-time. She knows the financial challenges students face while pursuing a college education and the tremendous debt they carry upon graduation. Willie Mae began her professional career in an entry-level position and advanced through the corporate ranks of a significant Georgia-based company retiring as a Labor Relations Coordinator.  As a small business owner, Willie Mae has operated a successful home-based travel agency for the past 17 years.

Willie Mae is seeking this opportunity to represent the constituents of District 44 in the Georgia House of Representatives in response to a call to serve.

  • Voting rights - the Constitution assures that the right of citizens to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State. Additionally, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 is a landmark piece of federal legislation that speifically prohibits racial discrimination in voting.
  • Healthcare - All Georgians today carry a concern that their health insurance can suddenly be reduced by an employer or eliminated all together by the loss of a job. Like most of us, Willie Mae has family and personal friends dependent on procedures or medications that can cost many thousands of dollars a month. Unemployed and part-time workers face additional challenges. Yet, as of 2020, 23 percent of people in Georgia did not have health insurance.
  • Forty-five percent of Georgia's chidren under 13 are in low-income working families. This could be the family of a cook at your favorite restaurant or a paraprofessional at your local school. The rising number of these low-wage jobs in today's economy makes it very tough for working people to get ahead.
I am personally passionate about voting rights.
I look up to my mother whose teachings remain with me today. I follow her example because she was kind, thoughtful, generous spiritual, and stressed always being respectful.
The characteristics or principles most important for an elected official are: Honesty, Integrity, and following The Rule of Law.
The qualities I possess that makes me a successful officeholder are: I am a passionate, honest, considerateI, dedicated and I have a lot of concern for those who can't care for themselves, especially children.
I came to serve all the citizens of Georgia.
The first historical event that happened in my lifetime that I remember is my mother registering to vote. I was 7 or 8 years old.
My first job was participating in a work-study program in high school for almost two years. I was an office assistant in the 4-H office in New Haven, CT.
My favorite book is by Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Supremacy because it is suspenseful.
The last song that stuck in my head was The Exodus from the movie the Tenth Commandments.
I believe the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature is have open communication. Again, decisons that benefit all Georgians.
I perceive the state's greatest challenge over the next decade is our environment.
It is not imperative that state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics because at some point every state legislator entered his or her position without prior experience. The most important thing is for state legislators to do the right thing at all times with Georgians well-being in mind.
I believe it is beneficial to build relationships with other legislators. It is always important to find common ground with fellow legislators on both sides of the aisle with the goal of legislating on behalf of what will benefit Georgians.
The process I favor for redistricting is having the maps drawn fairly.
The committees I am interested in are: Small Business Development Committee, Economic Development and Tourism Committee, Ethics Committee, and Health and Human Services..
I don't like jokes.
Yes, I believe compromise is necessary for policymakers; whereby, decisions can be made to benefit all Georgians.
