Willis William Ritter (1899-1978) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Utah. Ritter received a recess appointment from President Harry Truman on October 21, 1949, to a seat vacated by Tillman Davis Johnson. He was nominated on January 5, 1950, confirmed by the Senate on June 29, 1950, and received commission on July 7, 1950. Ritter served as chief judge from 1954 until his death on March 4, 1978.[1]
