A question about whether to recall Willow Burch and Marilyn Nicks from their elected positions as city councilors of Vernonia, Oregon, in Columbia County took place in a special recall election on August 4, 2011. Both officials were recalled from their seats.[1] Kevin Hudson, another Vernonia city councilor, was recalled from his seat on June 4th, 2011.[2]

Reasons for recall

Sharon Bernal led the recall effort. "At the heart of the recall are questions about the councilors’ firing of Haack and the handling of an investigation into police Sgt. Michael Kay, who was accused of falsifying his K-9 certification and lying to his superiors," according to The South County Spotlight.[2]
