Wisconsin Club for Growth (WCFG) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization focused on fiscal, educational and healthcare policy issues. According to their website, WCFG works "to promote public policies that encourage a high growth economy and a swift return to America’s founding principles primarily through legislative involvement, issue advocacy, research, training and educational activity."[1]

As a group engaged in issue advocacy, it does not expressly advocate for or against the election of a specific candidate, but rather focuses their messages on broader political and social issues.[2]

John Doe investigations

Two John Doe investigations, beginning in 2010 and ending in 2015, were launched by Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm (D) into the activities of staff and associates of Gov. Scott Walker (R).[3] WCFG was a target in one of the John Doe investigations related to Scott Walker. John Doe target Eric O'Keefe and WCFG ultimately took the case to the United States Supreme Court, but on May 18, 2015, the Court declined to hear the appeal.[4][5][6]

On May 28, 2014, O'Keefe filed another lawsuit in state court also on behalf of himself and WCFG against the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board and its director, Kevin Kennedy, for its involvement in the investigations. The lawsuit alleged the GAB had no statutory authority to participate in a criminal investigation.[7][8]
