Wisconsin held an election for treasurer on November 6, 2018. The candidate filing deadline was June 1, 2018.
On April 3, 2018, Question 1 appeared on the Wisconsin statewide ballot. Question 1 was defeated with more than 60 percent of the vote. If it had been approved, the office of state treasurer would have been abolished on January 7, 2019. Between 2003 and 2018, most of the state treasurer’s duties had been transferred to the departments of administration and revenue, which had governor-appointed secretaries.
