Campaign themes

2016

Agar's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Fostering Fiscal Responsibility

  • Wyoming has a great heritage of fiscal responsibility, starting with our balanced budget. In good times we put money aside and plan for the future. Now, in our down-turned economy we must live within our means.

Defending the U.S. & Wyoming Constitutions

  • The Constitutional rights that our founding fathers fought and died for, are under attack. I will work tirelessly to defend our freedom of speech, our freedom of religion, and our right to keep and bear arms. These rights are at the very heart of being a Wyomingite and an American.

Fighting the red tape that has a stranglehold on small business.

  • In order for small businesses and employment to thrive in our communities, we need to roll back intrusive regulations. I will fight to reduce and eliminate these overreaches making it easier for small businesses and individuals to reach success and create local jobs.

Returning control of our natural resources to state and local hands.

  • As a rancher, I understand the need for less Federal intrusion on the management of our natural resources. We need to return control to the states who understand the natural resources and how they benefit the local population including agriculture, the mineral industry, recreation, and tourism.[1]

Scorecards

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
