Dearborn, Michigan: Judge Richard Wygonik has been appointed chief judge of the Nineteenth Judicial District Court in Michigan. He has served on this court since 2005 and will assume his new role on January 1. The chief judge still presides over cases, but is also responsible for administrative duties and acts as the court's spokesman. There is no pay increase. Wygonik will replace Judge Mark Somers for a two-year term.
Regarding the new responsibilities, Wygonik stated, "I didn’t get into this for the administrative side, (but) after a certain period of time, with a certain amount of experience, if you’re asked to do something, you do it because you owe something."[1] He went on to explain that he plans to increase the court's efficiency.[2]
