|First and Foremost, Yara is a mom. Yara has two young boys. Remy James is almost three, and Roman Bernard will soon be one. Yara's family is the most important thing to her and you can frequently find Yara with her boys at the park or at local town events.
Yara is concerned about the Colorado her boys are growing up in, and she is worried families do not have the resources they need. This motivated Yara to run for State House. She is determined to make Colorado the best state in the country to raise a family.- Colorado can do better to support its young families
- Colorado can provide better opportunities for its middle-class regardless of age, gender, race, or sexual orientation
- Our elected officials should listen to, and be held accountable by the people of their district, and not corporations or special interests
Universal Pre-K: Preschool is immensely important to prepare kids for kindergarten. However, sending kids to preschool typically puts a financial strain on families. Colorado should value early education and make it easier for parents to stay in the workforce. Colorado should reimburse providers to ensure that all 4 year olds receive the benefit of preschool.
Mental Health Services: Suicide is the leading cause of death for Coloradans aged 10 to 24. Colorado does not have sufficient mental health and substance use service capacity for those who need care. Schools do not have adequate funding for mental health services. I will protect mental health funding and fight to expand the capacity of substance use treatment.
Elimination of Cash Bail: No one should have to sit in jail because they cannot afford bail. The cash bail system increases the likelihood that those lacking financial resources will plead guilty to a crime they did not commit.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Colorado scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
