What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
My top three priorities are campaign finance reform so we can ensure we elect leaders who will fight to get corporate and special interests such as the NRA and Dominion Energy out of our politics; fighting to increase wages for our working families, and protecting a woman's right to choose by enshrining it in the VA Constitution.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I came to the U.S. as a refugee and was provided with a host of opportunities because our immigration laws at the time were more humane. Today, refugees and immigrants are often not afforded these same opportunities and furthermore, have been subject to human rights abuses. My experiences pushed me to become a lifelong activist and human rights lawyer to ensure that the countless other families who are seeking refuge in our country today are afforded the same opportunities. That's why I'm passionate about protecting our immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters, minorities who are discriminated against and disproportionately impacted by our criminal justice system, and other vulnerable members of our communities.
