Public participation in board meetings
The Yukon Public Schools school board maintains the following policy on public testimony during board meetings:[3]
“ | Public Participation at Board Meetings: The purpose of a Board meeting is for the Board to conduct the District’s business and to deliberate and act upon matters before the Board as set by agenda, unless the Board is specifically conducting a public hearing on a matter. All meetings of the Board of Education shall be open to the public and any regular meeting shall include an opportunity for the public to address the Board on agenda items listed except for any items regarding personnel.
Persons addressing the Board shall not be permitted to engage in defamatory conduct and shall not engage in disruptive behavior. The Board shall not hear personal complaints unless the proper administrative procedures concerning complaints have been followed. The Board will not tolerate personal attacks on members of the board, the administrative staff, or any employee. Board members and the District’s administrative staff are not required to respond to questions or comments from the public since doing so could be in violation of the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act. The Board will not take any action on an item addressed by the public unless such item is properly on the agenda as an action item or is properly considered new business as defined by law.[4] |

Academic performance
Each year, state and local education agencies use tests and other standards to assess student proficiency. Although the data below was published by the U.S. Department of Education, proficiency measurements are established by the states. As a result, proficiency levels are not comparable between different states and year-over-year proficiency levels within a district may not be comparable because states may change their proficiency measurements.[9]
The following table shows the percentage of district students who scored at or above the proficiency level each school year:
