Yvette Simpson was a member of the Cincinnati City Council in Ohio. She was first elected to the council in 2011.[1]

Simpson was a candidate for mayor of Cincinnati in Ohio. Simpson was defeated in the general election on November 7, 2017.

Biography

Simpson attended Princeton High School in Cincinnati. She received a bachelor's degree from Miami University, a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, and an M.B.A. from Xavier University. Her professional experience includes working for law firms and directing Miami University’s pre-law program. As of 2017, she served as counsel at Ulmer & Berne LLP.[2]

The city of Cincinnati, Ohio, held elections on November 7, 2017. A primary election for the mayoral race was held on May 2, 2017. The top two vote-getters faced each other in the general election. The filing deadline for mayoral candidates was February 16, 2017. All nine seats on the city council were up for election. Regardless of the number of candidates, Cincinnati does not hold a primary election for the city council races. The filing deadline for city council candidates was August 24, 2017.[3] Incumbent John Cranley defeated Yvette Simpson in the general election for mayor of Cincinnati.[4]

Yvette Simpson and incumbent John Cranley defeated Rob Richardson in the primary election for mayor of Cincinnati.[5]
