Campaign themes
2015
Scott's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[9]
Safer, stronger neighborhoods
- Excerpt: "Downtown development cannot come at the expense of the neighborhoods that serve as the backbone of this community. I will ensure that neighborhoods old and new alike receive the resources they need to thrive and prosper."
Safe and effective public schools
- Excerpt: "High-quality public schools are essential for any thriving community. As Mayor, I will work to make sure that ALL Columbus children have the opportunity to learn in a safe and supportive environment. I also believe that Columbus parents should be able to send their kids to a school right within their neighborhood, so I want to bring back an emphasis on neighborhood schools – they are more convenient and they make our community stronger."
Jobs
- Excerpt: "Over 22% of Columbus residents, more than one out of every five, lives below the poverty line. That is 42% higher than the state average, and it is simply unacceptable. … We must ensure that we are attracting the right jobs to match the skills of our workers. This includes more traditional blue-collar jobs and even new “green-collar” jobs utilizing the latest technologies to put people to work and reduce our carbon footprint at the same time."
