Zanesville City Lodging Tax Increase (November 2010)
A Zanesville City Lodging Tax Increase measure was on the November 2, 2010 ballot in the city of Zanesville, which is in Muskingum County.

This measure sought to enact a lodging tax of 3 percent.[2] The money generated from this tax would have gone towards constructing and maintaining a community pool for the city. This measure was brought forth by a petition process and would have added, on average, $2.34 a night to local hotel room rentals.[3]
Opponents had noted that the cost of running the pool would have been more than the lodging tax will generate, meaning local residents would have had to pay the extra money somehow. But proponents of the measure faulted their statistics, noting that the large sum they assumed will be the cost to run the pool is not shared by any pool nearby. Proponents quoted a much lower cost of running the pool facility, one that would have been covered by the money generated by the lodging tax.[4]
