Dan French
Daniel M. French was the Vermont secretary of education. He was appointed to the position by Governor Phil Scott (R) in August 2018.[1]. He stepped down in April 2023. [2]
Biography
French was coordinator of the School Leadership Graduate Program at Saint Michael’s College from 2016 to 2018. He served as the superintendent at the Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union from 2007 to 2016 and for the Essex North Supervisory Union from 2004 to 2007. French was also a consultant for education and nonprofit organizations from 2003 to 2018.[3]
French served in the United States Army from 1985 to 1989.[3]

Political career
Vermont Secretary of Education (2018 - 2023)
In August 2018, French was named Vermont secretary of education.[1]. French stepped down in April 2023 to accept a leadership position with the Council of Chief State School Officers, an organization of Vermont education officials. [5]
