MADISON, Wisconsin: Republican State Senator Joe Leibham (R-Sheboygan, 9th District) and State Representative Robin Vos (R-Racine, 63rd District) introduced a Joint Resolution in which would be the first step in having a vote on a proposed constitutional amendment on health care insurance policies.[1]
The proposed amendment to the Wisconsin Constitution, according to its supporters, would protect and preserve an individual’s right to make their health care decisions, purchase private health insurance, and or purchase medical equipment and or supplies.[1]
“It’s clear that Democrats in Washington are completely ignoring the will of the people, especially when it comes to the issue of health care,” said Representative Vos. “A referendum on this amendment will allow Wisconsinites to send a loud and clear message demanding constitutional protections for the right to make their own health care and insurance decisions."[1]
The Joint Resolution must be approved by the Wisconsin Legislature for two consecutive legislative sessions before the measure is qualified on the ballot[1].
