2010 official ballot titles set by South Dakota Attorney General

PIERRE, South Dakota: A total of four ballot measures will appear on the November 2, 2010 statewide ballot. Two measures are legislatively referred constitutional amendment, while one is a veto referendum and another is an initiated state statute. A total of five initiatives were filed for the 2010 ballot; only two qualified. The filing deadline passed for initiated state statutes was April 6, 2010. The filing deadline for initiated constitutional amendment passed on November 2, 2009; no initiated constitutional amendments were filed for 2010.
This past week the South Dakota Attorney General wrote the official ballot titles for the proposed measures. They will read as follows:[1]
An Amendment to Article VI of the South Dakota Constitution relating to the right of individuals to vote by secret ballot.[2]
An Amendment to Article XIII of the South Dakota Constitution relating to the trust fund created from the proceeds of the state cement enterprise sales.[3]
An Act to prohibit smoking tobacco or carrying lighted tobacco products in certain places and to require certain persons to inform violators of the prohibition.[4]
An Initiated Measure to authorize the possession, use and cultivation of marijuana by and for persons with specified debilitating medical conditions registered with the Department of Health.[5]
