Alford J. Dempsey Jr. was a judge of the Fulton Circuit of Georgia.[1] He was re-elected in 2016 for a four-year term. He retired on May 31, 2018.[2]

Education

Dempsey received his B.A. in economics from Morehouse College and his J.D. from Harvard University. He was admitted to the Georgia bar in 1976.[3][4][5]

Career

Dempsey's legal career began when he worked on Jimmy Carter’s presidential campaign. Following this, Dempsey served as an assistant city attorney for the city of Atlanta’s Department of Law. He was named judge of the Fulton County Magistrate Court in 1992, leaving the position in 1995 when he joined the Fulton Judicial Circuit.[5]

Dempsey ran unopposed for re-election to the Fulton Superior Court.[6] He was re-elected after receiving 99.7 percent of the vote in the July 31 election.[7]
