Angel Faxon was an at-large representative on the Stevens Point Area Public School Board in Wisconsin. She filed to run for re-election in the general election held on April 5, 2016, but withdrew from the race in March 2016. She decided to withdraw after the deadline passed, therefore her name was still listed on the ballot.[1]

First elected to the board in 2012, she lost her bid for a second term in the general election on April 7, 2015. She was then appointed to a vacant one-year term on the board on April 27, 2015.[2]

Faxon graduated from Nekoosa High School in 1989. She has worked for Target in human resources. She obtained a bachelor's degree in education from Moody Bible Institute.[3]

Four of the nine at-large seats on the Stevens Point Area Public School District school board were up for general election on April 5, 2016. Three of the seats came with a three-year term, and one seat came with a one-year term. Incumbent Jeff Ebel ran for re-election. He faced challengers Rory Suomi, Amy Dailey, Daniel Kontos and Barb Portzen in the general election. Ebel, Kontos, and Portzen won seats with three-year terms, and Dailey won a seat with a one-year term. Incumbent Angel Faxon filed to run for re-election but withdrew from the race in March 2016. Her name still appeard on the ballot since she withdrew after the candidate withdrawal deadline.[4]

Funding

Faxon reported no contributions or expenditures to the Stevens Point Area School District in the election.[5] Any candidate spending or receiving less than $2,000 was not required to file a campaign finance report.[6]

Three at-large seats were up for election on April 7, 2015. Incumbents Meg Erler and Angel Faxon sought re-election and faced challengers Samuel Levin and Judy Rannow in the general election. While Erler was successful in her re-election bid, Faxon lost her seat. Levin and Rannow won their first terms on the board.

Faxon, Renae Sheibley and John Zellmer were elected to the board on April 3, 2012. They defeated Jeff Presley, Lynda Louis and Wade Mahon.[8]

The breaking of ground on the Life Skills Center is the best thing I've seen happen since I've been on the board. The students and community members that will benefit from its existence are limitless. The Point of Discovery School that is coming next fall will be another amazing addition to our district, and help serve a group of students that may be falling through the cracks.[9]
