Oregon: President Barack Obama has nominated Judge David V. Brewer, Chief Judge of the Oregon Court of Appeals, for the State Justice Institute. Though the board is not a federal entity, all of its eleven members are nominated by the president and then confirmed by the U.S. Senate. The institute was created in 1984 with the purpose of awarding grants to state courts for making improvements.[1]
