Joe Biden
- On Thursday, August 27, 2015, Biden met with the AFL-CIO president. This meeting increased speculation about his possible 2016 presidential campaign. (L.A. Times)
- On August 28, 2015, The Politico Caucus released polling information that 89 percent of Iowa Democrats and 80 percent of New Hampshire Democrats think Biden is unlikely to run for president. (Politico)
- Biden spoke about his possible presidential bid on a DNC conference call. He said, "If I were to announce to run, I'd have to be able to commit to all of you that I would be able to give it my whole heart and my whole soul. And right now, both are pretty well banged up, and we're trying to figure out that issue. Lincoln Chafee

Hillary Clinton
- Hillary Clinton is far ahead of other candidates in the Minnesota fundraising scene. For the second quarter, Minnesota donations for all candidates of both parties totaled, more than $780,000. Clinton picked up more than 70 percent, or $559,700, of those donations. (StarTribune)
- Julien Castro defended Clinton with regard to the current email investigation, standing by his statement that the investigation is a "witch hunt." He will be stumping for Clinton in Iowa on Sunday, August 30, focusing on Immigration issues. (CNN Politics)
- Hillary Clinton likened Republican views on women's rights to those of terror groups at an Ohio rally on August 27, 2015. She said, "Now, extreme views about women, we expect that from people who don't want to live in the modern world. But it's a little hard to take coming from Republicans who want to be the president of the United States." This generated responses from Republican candidates and the RNC. (New York Times)
- Hillary Clinton signed an agreement with the DNC that allows her to raise more funds for the 2016 election. In the agreement, funds over the individual limit of $2,700 can now be raised by Clinton, as long as the excess is given to the DNC to manage and fund a Democratic nominee. (Time)
Martin O’Malley
- O'Malley renewed his support for stricter gun laws after the Virginia shooting of two journalists on live broadcast. He advocated for stricter background checks and banning assault weapons. (Bloomberg)
Bernie Sanders
- According to an aide, Sanders will be advocating anti-establishment tactics to the DNC on August 28, 2015. This will include a call to not cater to Wall Street, corporations and big banks. (CNN)
- Ralph Nader wrote an open letter to Bernie Sanders via the Huffington Post on Thursday, August 27, 2015. In it, he gave specific campaigning tips related to Sanders' position as a socialist, and advocated reaching out to racial minorities. (Huffington Post)

Jeb Bush
- Eric Cantor endorsed Jeb Bush on Thursday, August 27, 2015. Cantor tweeted, "@JebBush is a true leader w/ a long-term vision for our country and the know how to implement it- not just talk about it. I'm #AllInForJeb." (Twitter, CNN)
- Jeb Bush appeared at a VFW Town Hall event to talk about foreign policy issues. He also mentioned that he wanted Trump to be treated like a front-runner candidate, so that his issue stances can be tested. Eric Cantor showed support for Bush by attending the event. The Bush campaign has commented that Cantor will be advising Bush on foreign policy. (Washington Post)
- On August 27, Jeb Bush tweeted, "@HillaryClinton compares pro-life Americans to terrorists, but defends despicable PP treatment of unborn? Her priorities are totally wrong." (Twitter)
Ben Carson
- On The Sean Hannity Show, Carson called Jim Acosta from CNN an "idiot" and advocated for military experts to take over regulation of smuggling on the border. He said, "we need to turn this over to the military experts because this is a war we're engaged in." (Breitbart)
- Carson held a Latino outreach event in South Carolina yesterday, August 27, 2015. 25 people attended the event, none of whom were Latino, except the business owner and brother, who hosted the event. (The Hill)
Chris Christie
- Maryland Governor Larry Hogan hosted a fundraising event for Christie on the evening of Thursday, August 27, 2015.(Washington Post)
- Pat Murray of Monmouth University Polling Institute has commented that Christie will likely make the top 10 for the September GOP debate. (NJ.com)
Ted Cruz
- Cruz stated that the Obama administration released criminal illegal aliens. He said, "In the year 2013, the Obama administration released 104,000 criminal illegal aliens. The released 196 murders - people with homicide convictions, who are here illegally. That's what I find objectionable." (Politifact)
- Cruz refused to answer a question from Megyn Kelly regarding deportation of children, on August 25, saying that it was a question that "every mainstream liberal journalist wants to ask" and calling it a "distraction from how we actually solve the problem." (Washington Post)
Carly Fiorina
- Fiorina responded to Hillary Clinton's remarks about Republican extremism with regard to women's rights. She said, "what it tells us is that Hillary Clinton has no qualms about continuing to try and wage this supposed ‘war on women’ card as she runs for president," She continued, saying, “We ought to expect this. Democrats are continually describing Republicans as extreme when the truth is, it is Democrats who are extreme." (Washington Times)
Mike Huckabee
- Huckabee received $3 million from a single individual donor, Ronald Cameron, who is from Little Rock Arkansas. (The Hill)
- On August 27, 2015, Huckabee released an op-ed on Breitbart encouraging a stronger tone with China and outlining his plans for casting aside establishment thinking. (Breitbart)
John Kasich
- A super PAC for Kasich is spending $5 million on air time in New Hampshire and published his first ad on August 27, 2015, featuring his ability to balance the budget. (Youtube, L.A. Times)
- Kasich's campaign responded to a jab from Hillary Clinton by saying, "Hillary Clinton’s trail of scandal is decades long and only continues to worsen." The statement continued, saying that it was "not surprising she thinks the only way for her to compete in Ohio or elsewhere is to launch negative attacks against John Kasich." (Columbus Dispatch)

Bobby Jindal
- Jindal is making preparations for the tropical storm Erika today, Friday, August 28. He tweeted, "I will be convening a Unified Command Group meeting this afternoon to review the state’s preparation for Tropical Storm Erika. Recent storm tracks show storm shifting slightly westward. - Jindal responded to Hillary Clinton's remarks on Republican views on women's rights with the following remarks. “She seems to think that the 50% of Americans who oppose abortion are ‘terrorists’. She thinks the people who make money killing unborn babies and selling their body parts are noble." He continued with, "Before Hillary Clinton talks about the treatment of women, she should take a look in the mirror and reflect on her own actions. Her foundation has raised money from countries that prevent women from driving, legalize spousal rape, and allow for genital mutilation." (Breitbart)
Rand Paul
- Rand Paul is at 2 percent support according to the most recent Quinnipiac poll. He responded to this, and spoke about Trump's lead with the following: "I think as more conservatives find out that Donald Trump is a fake conservative, I think those numbers will shift, but we’re very early and most of the polls that are being cited, when you ask people, ‘Are you decided?’ two-thirds of the people in all of these polls that are being quoted are really undecided on who they’re going to vote for yet" (Washington Times, Quinnipiac)

- Rubio responded to Hillary Clinton's criticism of Republican views on women by calling her "desperate" and saying she had radical views. He also said, "Here’s what’s most offensive about it: They won’t call terrorists terrorists, going all the way back to Benghazi and before that, but they call political opponents terrorists" (New York Times)
