Barry Salman was a justice of the Bronx County Supreme Court, Civil Term (12th Judicial District). He was elected to this position in 1990 and re-elected in 2005. He also served as the district administrative judge for civil matters in the 12th Judicial District.[1][2] Salman retired in 2016.[3]

Education

Salman received his B.A. degree from the City University of New York at Hunter College in 1962 and his J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law in 1965.[2]

Career

Salman began his career in 1965 and worked as a private practice lawyer until 1967. He then served as a law secretary for Civil Court Judge Alvin Klein until 1970, when he returned to the private practice. He worked in that capacity until 1978, when he joined the New York City Civil Court. He was elected to this court in 1977 and was re-elected in 1988. He also served as an Acting Supreme Court Justice from 1981 to 1990, when he was elected to a full term on the Supreme Court.

Throughout his career, Salman also taught at the College of New Rochelle, the Institute for Legal Assistant & Paralegal Training (1980-81), the Lehman College City University of New York (1980-present), and the Bronx Community College (1988-present).
